Case Study 2- Trailer Wrap
House- Trailer Wrap
Focus- Re-use and Mass Production
Green Features-
Re-use-
This project reuses the body of a trailer in order to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing, as well as reduce the cost of materials, through the re-use of free materials.
Mass-Production-
Through the mass production of the same design you are able to reduce material waste because of the knowledge of the amount of materials it takes. Therefore you are able to also reduce the cost spent on materials through waste.
Site-Interaction-
The best thing about a trailer home is its interaction to the site. It has almost no impact on the site in which it is placed, and it can be removed at any time.

Low Income Information-
Re-Use-
Re-use eliminates the cost of whatever structure is able to be re-used. This allows money to go into other areas, or just price reduction to allow for a more affordable house.
Mass-Production-
Mass production saves on material cost- by eliminating waste. This saves on the material that is thrown away, or that is left over at the end of the project.
Site Interaction-
Site Interaction-
Eliminates the need for a large foundation, this reduces the cost of the project as this is one of the major costs.
Possible Current Project Design Applications-
Re-Use
This can be used through possible cladding or other non structural design opportunities.
Site Interaction
Site interaction can be utilized though in ground columns for structural support. This can allow for the structure to be lifted off the ground, allowing for a more adaptable design.
Impossible Current Project Applications-
Mass Production-
This portion of green design would be up to the Habitat Client to fulfil in future projects, and will not happen here.
Design Critique-
Good Design overall for the trailer wrap. It would be better if they were able to use more than just the chassis of the trailer. But the structure of the trailer walls probably wouldn’t allow that. The exterior louvers are both aesthetically pleasing, as well as very good for shading. The overall exterior is very nicely proportioned, and thoughtfully laid out. The structure system is simple, and elegant.
